  • 4. Currently in OS X you would need to open the individual System Preferences to turn on menu bar items, however removing them is simple: command+click+drop off the menu bar. Also note that you can reorder the items using the same cmd+click method.

  • Remember, if you study business history, it seems that no one company can maintain ascendancy forever. Often, top companies have a period of dominance of say 10-20 years, mostly.

    You think I'm taking about Microsoft, true, but I'm actually referring to Apple.

    In the future, we will look at the Vista period as Apple's golden opportunity to steal the march on Microsoft by capturing massive marketshare by opening up its OS to licensing.

    Right now, Vista is not even good enough.

    But once Vista gets roughly good enough -- not brilliant -- but works fine and does not crash, and gets the job done, people are just going to stick with Microsoft again.

    Never again will Apple have had a chance to turn the tables.

    Let's take a 20 year bet on this one. Record this bet in your long term reminder system and see if I am correct.
