Ofcourse it cant be a real pokemon game, but it can follow the same mechanics. Here is my idea:

Introduction: After having been a kid in the 90s such as SO many others that are now in posession of an iPhone, we grew up with games and toys we absolutely LOVED back then! Getting right to the point, Pokémon was a HUGE hit back then. Anybody with a gameboy and with either Pokemon Red, Blue or Yellow was instantly cool on the school yard, for it was THE thing to play. Now, Pokemon today is still quite popular, but the new original pokemon games are steadily declining in popularity, most of all because of the smart phone. The smartphone is now THE handheld gaming platform and A LOT of smartphone users have grown up in the pokemon craze. But what has the iPhone to offer for these good old pokemon fans? Nothing, they should just have to buy a Nintendo system in order to play the pokemon games. Ofcourse almost none will do that, because a smartphone is already an expensive handheld, and they dont want to pay another big amount of money, just for their pokemon game. Here is where this app comes in. Its basicly pokemon, but its also not a pokemon game. Ofcourse you cant just name it Pokemon or use any of the pokemons names because of copyright reasons. Everything should basicly be renamed and look a little bit different, but the idea can be the same.It also follows the same idea as a pokemon game, though with modern and social twists. The game explained and the pokemon. The game does not take place in a virtual world. The entire game takes place in real life, on the street, at work, during class, in the park and even on the north and south poles if you so desire! Basicly the google maps map is the playground. The game uses your location to show you where you are. The point of the game is to just go somewhere. Going outside is already enough! Like I told you, the world is our playground.Where are the Pokemon then you ask? Well... In this app we arent using pokemon, we're using animals! Any kind of animal, even those you see on the street daily! These will be our pokemon! Any kind of animal is considered a pokemon, from a mere bug to an elephant. The birds in the streets and the cows on the farm land. The dog at home and that lion all the way in africa (or at the zoo). In short, your objective will be to catch all animals and use them as our pokemon and battle other players with it! Now that you have finished laughing or being shocked at the idea of caging wild animals and making them fight, believe me, its definitely animal friendly!Every different animal will have its own default abilities, and learning new ones as they level in the game. I will talk more about what kind of abilities those could be later.Catching a pokemonSo how are you going around catching these animals as our pokemon then? Well realisticly put: You arent. The idea is not to catch the animal, but to make a photograph of it with the camera! If I wanted to catch say a squirrel, I would have to find one, and make a photo of it, being close enough to it that its detailed. Ofcourse photographing a squirrel will be pretty hard, but keep in mind there are also very easy targets, like dogs or pidgeons and doves.Getting the pokemon out of the image:Now say I've managed to make a photo of this squirrel. When you've taken the photograph, there should be a tool that allows the photographer; me, to extract the squirrel from the picture. The extracted image will be your pokemon sprite! This means no squirrel pokemon is alike and every extracted pokemon sprite is unique. This could mean one sprite is beautifully extracted from a picture, while another player has a rough, ugly photo representing his pokemon, and this is all up to the player and his photographing skills.Catching the extracted pokemon! So now I have my extracted squirrel pokemon. But it wouldnt be a pokemon game if this pokemon was automaticly added to my pokemon team! Where would the fun of that be? You will have to fight it first, in order to succesfully catch it! You can use the starter pokemon you get when you first launch the game to fight it.But ofcourse, the game will have to know what type of pokemon this is. This can be done through our version of the "Pokedex". There will be a menu where the player can select which kind of pokemon it is. Now, a Squirrel is a rodent type of animal, so the player should be able to select the squirrel name from the rodent tree. You confirm your selection in the "pokedex" and the game then labels the extracted photograph of the squirrel as a squirrel. Every different animal will have its skillset linked to the kind of animal. As soon as you confirm the photograph as a "squirrel", it will obtain a certain level ranging from how dangerous or cunning the animal actually is in real life, and obtain the skills that fit with the squirrel pokemon. Now you've got yourself a real ingame squirrel to catch and ready to fight back!Fighting the wild pokemon! The fighting system will be simple. It will be a turn based battle, trying to lower or deplete the foe's health points. there can be a maximum of 4 abilities/moves to choose from. The lower level animals to catch can have less attacks, leaving 2 attack slots open. These can however be learned when the "pokemon" progresses.Abilities or moves can range from direct attacks that deal instant damage, attacks that deal damage over the course of several turns like poisons, attacks that temporarily stun the enemy pokemon to a move that can disable a certain ability the other pokemon has for the rest of the fight. To catch the pokemon you will have to weaken it. In other words; bring down the health points of the wild pokemon untill it has almost no more health points left. At this point you use our version of the "pokeball" to try and catch the pokemon. The pokeball has about a 58% chance to catch the pokemon. If it doesnt, the pokemon will break free from the pokeball. If the desired pokemon is defeated before being caught, the player does not need to worry the sprite he made is lost forever. In these cases the "squirrel" sprite we just made will be saved in a menu under the "squirrel", so I can use the sprite I worked so hard on later when I find another squirrel. If you manage to catch the squirrel, your squirrel is then added to your team of pokemon. It will need to be healed before being able to fight properly though, because you just badly weakened the squirrel you just caught. Also, the pokemon you caught will remember where you've taken the photograph, so when you inspect the pokemon, it will show where and by who it was caught in a google maps window. This allows the player to pretty much brag about where he caught the pokemon and that he did infact caught it himself! This is also a very fun feature for when the pokemon is traded to another player, but I will talk about that later. And then you have catched your pokemon!Ofcourse the squirrel is just an example, and the squirrel will propably be a rare pokemon, since its particularly hard to find one in the wild. The earlier pokemon you will likely catch are propably your pets, a pidgeon, a duck on the street or maybe a cow or a horse you've happened to pass by while driving past a farm. More challenging would be other kind of birds, that tend to fly away when you get close. The hunt of getting them on a photograph is part of the fun!Storing pokemon and healing themOfcourse your pokemon wont recharge their health by itself. Your pokemons health will not replenish itself every new battle. You will need to heal your pokemon somewhere. This is where our version of the "pokecenter" comes around. The pokecenters are area's on google maps. Ofcourse it would be terrible to have to go all the way to a place on google maps just to be able to heal your pokemon, so every player has the can place their own pokemon center on the map. There would be two types of pokemon centers. Type A would be at home and the other would be at a point chosen by the player itself. After placing them you can still choose to remove these pokemon centers and place them somewhere else on the map. But you should only be able to do that every once in a long time for both types of pokemon centers. You would likely only place your home pokemon center when you'd for instance be moving to another house or during a vacation away from home. The pokemon centers allow you to fully heal all the pokemon that you currently have. You can take up to 6 pokemon with you. The rest will be stored on a "bank" in the pokemon center. These pokemon can be placed and reclaimed from any pokemon center, so you dont need to be somewhere specific to pick up a previously caught pokemon. When you catch a pokemon and there is no more room in your team, it will be instantly moved to your bank. And after that..The general point is just to catch as many animals as you can and train them to become stronger. A feature would be to battle your friends with them. The best way to have a battle between friends would be through a bluetooth or wifi connection. You can trade your pokemon. The pokemon would retain all their data. Even the info about who caught it and where it was caught. This makes a great little feature that tells you more about each pokemon. Maybe if you're lucky you might end up with a pokemon from another continent! This is a great social game, for it allows you to have it with you when both outside and inside the house. Overall this is a game you can take with you anywhere. Take a nice and relaxing stroll with your friends, and who knows, maybe you will bump into that animal you always wanted to have for a long time! Or search for exotic animals when in the zoo or on a vacation, another thing to brag about with your friends!Possible facebook interactionThis game would be great to link up with facebook. Through facebook your friends can check online which pokemon you've caught, what level they are and possible pokemon on your wishlist! The possibilities are endless!

Re: Wanted: iPhone app ideas!

well ,did he week up?

Re: Wanted: iPhone app ideas!

just ask for 'pivot'
